(Part 1) Two Brain Theory

For this discussion:

–Locate and read a recent, full-text article from the Capella Library on one neuroanatomical structure involved in verbal behavior (for example, Broca’s area or temporal lobe) and the verbal behavioral correlates of this structure.

–The functional lateralization of the human brain has led to the notion that humans possess “two brains,” the left brain and the right brain. The left brain is described as verbal and analytic, while the right brain is described as visuo-spatial, rhythmic, and creative. Discuss how the article you selected relates to the two brain theory.

 

(Part 2) Communication Disorders

For this discussion:

–Locate a recent, full-text article from the Capella Library on one communication disorder (such as anomia or agraphia) and its neurophysiological correlates.

–Read and briefly summarize the article.

–Answer:

What was the central finding of the article?

Why is it important?

How does the article supplement and extend the material in the text?

(Part 3)  Application of t Tests

For this discussion:

–Identify a research question from your professional life or career specialization that can be addressed by an independent samples t test.

–Indicate why a t test would be the appropriate analysis for this research question.

–Describe the variables and their scale of measurement.

–Discuss the expected outcome (e.g., “The group 1 mean score will be significantly greater than the group 2 mean score because…”)
