Detention and Risky Behavior

Research indicates that a correlation exists between the likelihood of a youth being detained and the youth’s proclivity toward risky behaviors. Risky behaviors are actions or activities that have the potential of being harmful or dangerous but at the same time provide an opportunity for some kind of outcome that could be perceived as positive.

Tasks:

By Saturday, May 14, 2016, in at least 250 words, post to the Discussion Areayour answers to the following questions:

  • In this context, what sort of activities do you think are “risky”? Using the Argosy University online library and the Internet, find at least two examples of risky behaviors and potential (or real) outcomes.
  • In your response, note the potential positive and negative outcomes of these activities.
  • Why do you think youths who engage in these activities are more likely to be detained at some point?
