Reliability and Validity Paper

Write a 700- to 1,050-word paper describing observation and measurement as they relate to human services research.

Refer to Ch. 4 and 5 of Beginning Behavioral Research

Address each of the following points in your paper:

·         Go to the UOPX library (necessary…no external websites) and use a database to select a peer-reviewed journal article regarding human services research (see main forum for examples).  You are welcome to ask for approval of the article to be sure you are on the right track.

·         Define and describe the research (qualitative? quantitative?), including the hypothesis (or research questions) used and how the researcher selected the sample.

·         Provide examples of a data collection method and data collection instrument used in human services research. Why is it important to ensure that these data collection methods and instruments are both reliable and valid?

·         Discuss the outcomes of the research and describe how the research might be used to inform our thinking about the topic you selected.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines and include at least two references.

As a way to encourage academic honesty for assignments, I SUBMIT 100% OF ASSIGNMENTS TO THE PLAGIARISM CHECKER. Faculty submissions are checked against other student papers (your submissions are not).    If you have any questions about what plagiarism is, the Center for Writing Excellence (CWE) has a tutorial that is available for your use.  Remember, you, too can submit your papers to the same plagiarism checker that I use in the CWE.  Your advisor or Technical Support can provide you with guidance on how to access these resources .  You can use this as a tool to make sure that you have appropriately provided attribution for text match or content.

THIS IS A DIFFICULT CLASS.  THE EXPECTATION IS THAT YOU WILL USE THE READINGS AND MYSTAT LAB ACTIVITIES AND PROVIDE YOUR OWN RESPONSES. IF YOU USE A WEBSITE REFERENCE IN ANY OF YOUR DISCUSSION RESPONSES, THEY MUST BE SCHOLARLY (COLLEGIATE LEVEL, NO .COMS, ETC.)
