Details:Some argue that our government should also protect certain economic and social rights such as the right to health care, a clean environment, or the right to better standard of living. But should our definition of rights be expanded to include new privileges or should government be limited to what rights they can protect? And who should decide which rights are adequate for the 21st century? I argue that 21st century conditions and challenges require us to expand our current definition of rights to include protection of certain economic and social privileges. While our Founding Fathers laid an adequate foundation, new demands require a new framework – one that helps to ensure a life of dignity and safety for all current and future U.S. citizens.
